Social Media for Sciences Workshop

December 9, 2011

November 3, 2011toNovember 4, 2011

A two-day workshop organized by BRITE and TerreWEB programs

The world of science is changing. A major paper in the journal Science is discredited because of blog posts. Another paper in Nature is partially retracted because of comments on internet message boards. New online technologies like blogs and Twitter are revolutionizing how science is done and communicated. How does a scientist survive in this new world? This two-day workshop aimed at answering that question by showing how social media can be used to advance science.

Organizers: Dr. Jai Ranganathan,
National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis, Santa Barbara, CA and Dr. Kai Chan, BRITE
Presenter: Drs. Jai Ranganathan, Kai Chan, Simon Donner (TerreWEB)
Date: November 3-4, 2011
